Shabbat

Like synagogues around the world, Shabbat at Congregation Beth Shalom begins at sundown on Friday night and lasts until the Havdallah candle is lit at sunset Saturday. It is a time for Santa Clarita’s conservative Jewish community to break from the work week and reflect on what has transpired.
On Friday nights we combine ancient hebrew melodies with the joy of modern song. Our monthly Musical Shabbat makes for a very lively and upbeat evening of song and ruach. The congregation provides the percussion, so come early, grab a seat and get ready for an up-on-your-feet kind of spiritual evening full of "Rhythm and Jews". Once a month we feature a Family Shabbat that encourages student participation and our USY-led Shabbat is an experience not to be missed.
Shabbat mornings can be a lively discussion of that week's Torah Portion, or a celebration of Judaism's coming-of-age ritual. The Bar or Bat Mitzvah is the beginning of a lifetime of Jewish learning and involvement and, of course, Shabbat celebrations.
