FAMILY PROMISE — November 13-20

October 28, 2011

To the Congregants of Congregation Beth Shalom:

Family Promise is a nonprofit 501(c)3, non-denominational organization for families in transition, committed to helping low-income families nationwide achieve lasting independence.  In more than 150 communities across the country, Family Promise networks provide safe shelter, meals, and support services to get families back on their feet, while addressing the underlying causes of homelessness.

"It’s simply astounding to see what happens when compassionate volunteers work together to help their neighbors in need. Over and over again, I see how families become empowered, and communities are transformed."
— Karen Olson, Founder & President, Family Promise

As Jews we have an obligation to give back to our community. Family Promise is one way Congregation Beth Shalom helps our members perform mitzvot.

Congregation Beth Shalom is a “host” congregation. We held our first hosting during the week of August 21 to August 28. We were joined by Blessed Kateri congregants and together we provide the necessary support to house the families in need for our week.  Many of our members “stepped” up and helped us during this week. We house and feed the families at our Temple for our host week. As you will see at the sign up, we have multiple volunteer opportunities for you.

The next hosting week will be during the week of November 13 to 20. Volunteers are encouraged to CLICK HERE to sign up on-line. Your help is needed and appreciated! We will be in touch with you once you have signed up!

L’Shalom,

Ken Greenberg
