Our History
Congregation Beth Shalom is a warm and friendly community-driven “shul” consisting of Jewish families who live in the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding areas. CBS is a Conservative congregation, the Valley’s oldest, serving members of the community since 1976. We enjoy gathering together to share many spiritual, educational and social events. CBS is growing, but we are still very much a “small town” synagogue. Newcomers who attend a few services and events quickly become acquainted with many of our member families.
Services on Friday nights, Saturday mornings and holidays are spiritual, creative and open to all.
Congregation Beth Shalom offers a quality Jewish educational experience to students in Pre-K through Gesher (8th & 9th Grade) and USY, with Bar/Bat Mitzvah training, study of Jewish values, history, and the Hebrew language. Our religious school is well-known for its commitment to quality and its dedication to provide for the needs of each and every student. The CBS Pre-School provides a complete program of learning, nurturing, fun and Judaism.
We have active social programs for children from kindergarten age through high school. Our Men’s Club and Sisterhood affiliates enjoy many social activities and support CBS programs and community needs.
We care about each of our member families and we stay in touch through this website, our monthly newsletter, The Shofar, and regular email updates. Families with special needs are supported by our Mitzvah Committee. Come visit us. Don’t be surprised if, soon after you arrive, someone says to you, “Welcome to Congregation Beth Shalom!”
